WOODEN SNAKE COUNTING NUMBERS PUZZLE | BIGJIGS

One, two, three — can you follow the snake? The Bigjigs Toys Wooden Snake Counting Puzzle is a brilliantly engaging way to introduce numbers 1 to 20. A cheerful yellow snake winds its way across the natural birch baseboard in a sweeping S-curve, from its smiling cartoon head at number 1 all the way to the tail at number 20. Each of the 20 numbered body segments is a chunky curved wedge shape in a rotating sequence of bright colours — red, orange, yellow, pink, light blue, dark blue, green and purple — making the snake vivid and visually engaging as it builds.

The baseboard is cleverly routed so that each numbered cavity matches the shape of only one piece, making this a self-correcting puzzle — if the number doesn’t match, the piece simply won’t fit. Children can pick out any piece, read the number, find the right cavity and press it in: a satisfying, confidence-building loop that reinforces number recognition one step at a time. The pieces are generously chunky and easy for little hands to lift, turn and place, making this just as suitable for a young toddler working through the lower numbers as it is for an older child racing to beat their own time.
