Into the woods. Mayoral’s Mushroom Print Sweatshirt & Legging Set is a two-piece that stops people in their tracks. The cream cotton jersey sweatshirt is covered in an all-over watercolour-illustrated mushroom print — multiple mushroom varieties in soft terracotta, dusty pink, mauve, burgundy and warm taupe, with tiny golden snails tucked between them. It’s a painterly, hand-rendered style of print rather than a graphic one, and the range of mushroom shapes and sizes — tall fly agarics, round-capped clusters, solitary little toadstools — gives it real illustrative charm.

The construction is as considered as the print: the hem and cuffs are both scalloped with a decorative wave edge rather than a standard straight ribbed finish, and a large square front patch pocket sits at the centre chest, also scalloped along its lower edge and fastened with a small round wooden button. Two silver snap poppers at the back neckline make it easy to dress over a baby’s head. Wide and boxy in fit with shorter sleeves — perfect for layering over long-sleeve bodysuits in autumn and winter.
